Best Local Aperitivo Lake Como: €8 Cocktails at Grace Bakery
We all love the standard lakeside terraces in the middle of Como or Varenna, but the best spots are usually the ones tucked away where the local life actually happens. Just a short hop from Lecco, in the town of Garlate, I have found a place that perfectly bridges the gap between modern style and authentic local life: Grace Bakery.
A Modern Chic Diner Vibe In Garlate
Inside, Grace’s is not your typical rustic Italian shop. It feels like a modern chic version of a diner, with a design that is clean, intentional, and much more stylish than your average roadside stop. It manages to be sleek and contemporary while still feeling completely welcoming.
By day, it is a busy hub for fresh bread and pastries, but as the sun goes down, the space shifts effortlessly into a cool, modern bar. The atmosphere is 10/10.

The Aperitivo: A Proper Bakery Spread
The real draw here is the value you get for your money. Because this is a proper functioning bakery, the aperitivo that comes with your €8 cocktail is massive. You are not just getting a bowl of salted crisps and a few olives.
On our visit, we were served three different types of focaccia including salted, olive, and onion, along with several pieces of pizza and fresh bruschetta topped with a generous serving of chopped tomatoes.
Lunch And Dinner At Grace Bakery
While the aperitivo is what most people come for, they also do lunches and dinners if you are looking for something more substantial. I have not tried them myself as I have only ever been for their aperitivo, but if the aperitivo is anything to go by I’m guessing the food would be great. You can check out their full range of offerings on their [website menu here] to see what they have available.

My Insider Take On Grace Bakery
This is a hidden gem in the most literal sense. It does not rely on a fancy view to pull people in, it relies on quality and a great atmosphere. If you are driving between Lecco and the southern end of the lake, it is well worth the stop. Just keep a sharp eye out so you do not drive straight past it.
Master The Art Of The Aperitivo
The aperitivo is easily the best part of the day in Italy. To help you make the most of it, I have put together a full guide on The Art of the Aperitivo. This is where I share all my favourite spots, so you can spend less time guessing and more time enjoying a drink with a view. You can check them out below to ensure every evening of your trip is sorted.
