The Best Sunset Spot: Bar Gelateria Pusiano

If you are looking for a front-row seat for the sunset, Bar Gelateria Pusiano is positioned perfectly. It is a peaceful, unobstructed spot that feels a world away from the frantic roads and tourist crowds of Lake Como.

The best way to do it is to grab an aperitivo or a gelato and head straight for their outdoor area out the back. You get a brilliant view of the horizon as the light shifts over the water.

The Best Drinks for an Italian Sunset

My go-to order here is almost always a Hugo Spritz. It is light, refreshing, and feels exactly like summer in Northern Italy should. If you are not in the mood for elderflower, their Margarita cocktails are also amazing.

They are punchy, well-made, and a nice change of pace if you have already had your fill of Spritz for the week.

Whether you are there for a quick scoop of gelato or a slow drink as the sun goes down, it is easily one of the most relaxed spots in the area. Just keep it under your hat, as it is nice to have a place where you don’t have to fight for a chair.

Also don’t forget to bring your Mosquito spray in the hotter months!!

Isola dei Cipressi: The Island of Wallabies

In the middle of the lake sits a small, private island called Isola dei Cipressi. It is covered in…you guessed it…Cypress trees.

The Lore: This island has some unique history; there was a time when wallabies actually lived here. While they aren’t hopping around for the public today, the island remains a beautiful, quiet silhouette in the middle of the water. It adds a bit of unique character to a lake that already feels like a bit of a secret.

How to Get on the Water: The Solar-Powered Enigma

If you want to actually get out on the lake, look for the Enigma. It’s a solar-powered motorboat that does tours around the water. Because it’s electric, it’s incredibly quiet, which fits the whole vibe of Pusiano perfectly. You can find more details including their timetable and prices on their website Navigazione Pusiano.

Hiking for the Best View: Parco del Roccolo

Since you can’t walk around the shore, if you’d also like some movement and a bit of walking to earn a great view, head 2.2km up the road to Parco del Roccolo. It’s the hidden gem viewpoint of the region, offering an unbeatable, elevated look over Lake Pusiano and the Island of Cypresses. You can find my full guide on how to get there [here].
